After a failed actor’s desperate attempt to win back a role goes sideways, a group of aimless teens unknowingly leave a sushi shop with his bag, setting off a chain of escalating and absurd events.
Director Statement.
I’m fascinated by the way small coincidences can reshape everything. So, with my film “Sushi”. Rather than starting with a grand concept, I wanted to explore something that feels “real”: how insignificant moments can unexpectedly change the course of our lives.
Some of my favourite films use coincidence in this way. In "The Big Lebowski", a case of mistaken identity sets an entire story in motion. In "Pulp Fiction", it's a case of wrong place and wrong time that changes the trajectories of its characters.
For me, coincidence is the most interesting type of story because of its unpredictability. We rarely realise the significance of a moment while it is happening; only afterwards can we see how one small decision, encounter, or accident led to something much larger.
“Sushi” explores that idea through a darkly comic chain of actions that ripple outward. I hope the film achieves its goal of entertaining while keeping the audience guessing how deep a mess the characters can get themselves into.
